LYM and YDA: Circulating a Resolution that Calls on the Pres. Candidates to Impeach Cheney if They Want the Youth Endorsement

19 de julio de 2007

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]July 19, 2007 (LPAC)-- Yesterday, at the Young Democrats of America convention in Dallas TX, the LaRouche Youth Movement organized these young democrats around Lyndon LaRouche's call for Hillary Clinton to demand the impeachment of Cheney, therefore possibly winning the presidency by acclamation. Most people responded with variations on the theme of: "Yeah, that would be nice, but it will never happen."

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]Just a day later, and only because of the leadership of the LYM, the organizers on the ground in Dallas are currently circulating a Young Democrats of America sanctioned resolution/petition calling for all presidential candidates to come out publicly for the impeachment or resignation of Vice President Dick Cheney. The resolution, printed below, makes it clear that the conditionality for the Young Democrats of America's endorsement, is that the candidates give up their reluctant cowardice and finally support what 76% of all democrats support, that is, the impeachment of Cheney.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]The resolution was written by the organizers of the discussion-forum on civil rights, a few excited convention delegates, and LYM member Hector R.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]How the resolution came into being
At the convention's civil rights forum, Hector R. intervened on a discussion on leadership, that was going in a pedantic theoretical direction. Hector briefed the crowd on the economic crisis, and the state of veterans returning from Iraq. He then posed a challenge: that if they wanted to talk about leadership, "Lets talk leadership." Given that the Vice President has to be removed, Hector called on the YDA to draft a resolution stating that if they, the presidential candidates, want the support of the young democrats, they have to call for Cheney's impeachment/resignation.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]The speaker at the forum immediately said "He's right!", remarking that everything they were discussing at the forum was too theoretical, but "This is action!" After the panel, the now official YDA resolution was drafted, and is being circulated as a petition with wide support. The signatures continue to pile up!

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]The LYM are now trying to figure out where to introduce such a resolution, with the help of some very enthusiastic delegates. These delegates, and the civil rights forum speaker, have assured us that they will put this resolution in the hands of all the presidential candidates who will be speaking at the conference.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]To those who say that any change in history "won't happen," only through LEADERSHIP does history change!

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]STAY TUNED! this is a developing story that LPAC is monitoring, expect to hear more as this drama unfolds.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]The text of resolution/petition follows:

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]Call to the Democratic Candidates of the United States Presidency.

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]

[font:face="Times New Roman";size=3]We here members of the Young Democrats of America and guests of this 2007 National Convention find it necessary, and see it fit that if you seek our support in the 2008 Democratic primaries, it will be required, your duty, and your responsibility to demonstrate your sincere dedication in upholding the provisions and founding principles of the US Constitution and the general welfare of the American people, by publicly calling for either the resignation or impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.
