Both US Allies, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Exchange Fire
May 13 (EIRSNS)--VOA correspondent Benjamin Sand reports that a shoot-out occurred on Sunday between Pakistani and Afghan troops that left at least four Afghans dead and several Pakistanis wounded. Pakistan's top military spokesman, Major General Waheed Arshad said at lest five Afghan soldiers were dead and three Pakistanis seriously wounded. Afghan officials have confirmed the incident. They insist Pakistani soldiers fired the first shot, while Arshad says the Pakistani troops responded to an unprovoked firing by the Afghan troops. This is the second exchange of fire along their common border in less than a month. Fighting took place several weeks ago after Afghan soldiers allegedly tore down a section of a new security fence Pakistan is erecting.
